Diagnostics

Everything we need to reach a diagnosis is here at the clinic: blood tests, i-STAT, urinalysis, X-ray and ultrasound, with endoscopy coming soon. No waiting days for results, and no sending your pet elsewhere for routine imaging.

Our equipment

Diagnostics on site

Blood tests

Full blood panels run in our own lab: haematology (blood cells) and biochemistry (organ function).

Used for: Sick pets, pre-anaesthetic checks, senior screening and monitoring long-term conditions.

i-STAT analysis

Rapid blood gas, electrolyte and acid–base analysis from a tiny sample, with results in minutes.

Used for: Emergencies, collapsed or critically ill pets, and monitoring during anaesthesia and intensive care.

Urinalysis

Dipstick, urine concentration and microscopic examination of the urine sediment.

Used for: Urinary problems, kidney disease, diabetes and bladder stones.

X-ray

Radiography of the chest, abdomen, bones and joints.

Used for: Lameness, fractures, coughing and breathing problems, swallowed objects and surgical planning.

Ultrasound

Real-time imaging of the abdominal organs, and ultrasound-guided sampling without surgery.

Used for: Vomiting, abdominal pain, masses, bladder and kidney problems, and fluid in the abdomen.

Endoscopy (coming soon)

A camera on a flexible scope that lets us see inside the stomach, intestines and airways without open surgery.

Used for: Removing swallowed objects without surgery, taking gut biopsies, and investigating chronic vomiting, coughing or nasal problems.

Cytology

Microscopic examination of needle samples from lumps, skin, ears and fluids.

Used for: Checking what a lump is, investigating skin and ear infections.

Biopsy & histology

Samples are processed on our in-house diagnostic system with review by a specialist pathologist via telemedicine, or sent to a specialist reference laboratory, depending on the case.

Used for: Every mass we remove, suspected tumours, and skin and gut disease.

Why in-house matters

Answers without the wait

Faster decisions

Most results are ready while you wait, so we can discuss them and start treatment the same day.

Better emergency care

In an emergency, minutes matter. Having blood tests, i-STAT, X-ray and ultrasound on site means we can stabilise your pet without delay.

Fewer referrals

Ultrasound, and soon endoscopy, let us investigate problems here that would otherwise mean a trip elsewhere.
